Unit # | Army - 1st Canadian Division |
Enlisted shortly after the start of the war. The husband of Wilda (nee Drewery).
Earl was born in Chatham. He attended McKeough school. He married Wilda Drewery of Raleigh Twsp. and later resided in London, ON. She was associated with the G & C. Fruit Produce for several years. The MS 1944(date unknown) reported Sigmn. Boyer spent a five-day leave at his home in Merlin before returning to London, ON.
Earl was in England during the “Blitz”. For the last year he had been serving in Italy with the 1st Canadian Divisional Signalers. He counted himself very lucky having received no wounds in five years. One luxury he missed was a bath. He also said that he had seen more than enough of Europe “to last a life time.” Life in Italy was pretty awful at times.
He was able to give Mrs. Hoy and family at Fletcher that their son Sgn. Vincent Hoy was still serving in Italy and he was in good report.
He was granted a month leave with his wife and family in Merlin and with other friends and relatives.
The CDN 21/08/44 reported that he returned home from service from Merlin.
