Born in Wallaceburg. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthias Boulton of 426 Nelson St., Wallaceburg. The brother of Evelyn. Joseph attended Our Lady of Help school in Wallaceburg High School, and Merici High School. He later went to the Assumption College in Windsor where he obtained his B.A. in 1943.
Joseph married Helen Irene (nee Farley) in Detroit, Michigan. WN 15/06/44 Helen was living at Wald Lake Michigan, USA. They had a daughter named Lynn Rose, born in March of 1945.
Pfc. Boulton went overseas in November of 1944. He was member of the infantry regiment in the US Army.
He was released from a German POW camp in April 1945.
Pfc. Boulton was reported as missing in action 12 January 1945. He was 27 years old at this time. On March 5th, the International Red Cross notified his father that Joseph was a POW in Germany. This was later confirmed in a telegrams from Adj General of the US Army at he was released for the German POW camp. He was released from the German POW camp in April 1945. He returned for a short stay with his wife and baby at the home of his parents. The WN 3/05/45 reported that his one-month daughter Lynn Rose had been baptized in Wallaceburg.
