BOEYKENS, Ely E

 

Son of Levinus and Louise Boeykens of Con. 8 Camden, Kent Co. ON. The brother of Robert and William. Husband of Gloria (Grouix). Father of Mary, Beatrice, Clifford, Kevin, Richard, Bob-Paul and Bonnie.   

Ely enlisted 8 January, 1942 and went overseas in May.

General Boeykens was wounded in Italy in September 1944.

Ely served in the CFA 7th Anti-Tank 111th Battery. He is reported as being WIA in the IODE-CM Books of Remembrance for his active service with the Canadian artillery since Christmas 1943. The DT 21/09/44(P) reported that Gnr. Ely Boeykens was reported to be slightly wounded in action in Italy on 5 September, 1944.

The CDN 20/11/45(P) [poor] Was reported to be aboard the Queen Elizabeth arriving in Canada “the week”.

He was discharged in December of 1945.

Ely Edmund passed away 9 July, 2012.
