Resident Wallaceburg

The son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Blake of 589 Lafonatine St. in Wallaceburg, ON. Prior to his enlistment, he was employed at the Dominion Glass Co., in Wallaceburg.

John was enlisted at the age of 19. He was sent overseas as part of a draft, and was posted to No.2 C.I.R.U. He was transferred to France in September 1944. The CDN 4/10/44 reported that John was serving overseas.  Pte. Blake was listed as MIA in November of 1944, but was later reported as a POW in January 1945. He was liberated by Allies advancing into Germany in April 1945. CDN 11/06/45(P). He was reported to being repatriated to England. WN 26/04/45.
