TOS at camp Bramshot segregation Camp 7/04/17. Posted to 161st Battalion 1/06/17. 28/02/18 proceeded overseas serving with the 47^th Canadian Batt. SOS 161^st. Arrived in France 28/02/18.

Pte. Blackwell served with the 47^th Batt. in England and France.

It was reported that David had been wounded while in action with a GSW to the right arm and back. 3/09/18 23^rd Casualty Clearing Section. GSW right elbow. 21/09/18 at 6 Conversant – Estaples 6/09/18. 12 Aubenque 7/09/18 right arm. 7/12/18 given a 14 day leave.   He was reported that he was in 56^th General Hospital at Estaples, France. He was discharged 4/01/19. Reported he had recovered.

David proceeded to England 27/04/1919 and waited for passage to Canada.

Embarked at Liverpool 28/05/19 aboard the S. S. Southland. He arrived at Quebec and was discharged 6/06/1919 at Quebec age 22 years.
