Donald began his military career as a member of the First Kents. He went overseas as a reinforcement for the Highland Light infantry. He later transferred to the RCR, proceeding to the Italian campaign with that unit.
It was reported in the CDN 22/01/44 that Donald had seen some of the stiffest fighting in Italy when he was reported as missing. It was noted that “Pte. Bishop was a competent and sincere soldier, and very popular with all ranks with whom he associated.
Age: 21, KIA – Date of Death: 20/12/1943, in Italy.
