After the war, John farmed on the Centre Line of Harwich Twsp. He was also a Noble Grand of I.O.O.F.- Rondeau Lodge, as well as a member of Branch 185 of the Legion.
John passed away at the C-K Health Alliance Centre, Chatham, ON. on 19 January, 1997 in his 84th Year. Internment at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim, ON.
