Next of kin reported as Mrs. R. J. Bickford of  Wheatley,  ON. 

The WJ 15/08/40 reported he was at London, ON., when he was on leave with his family and relatives.

The WJ 5/12/40 reported that Roy was at No. 12 BTC – Training Centre at Chatham. Others at No. 12 included Bill Tait, Bob Lynn, Bill White and Carson Mooney.  

The WJ 6/11/41 reported Pte. Bickford of No.7 General Hospital, Debert NS. was home on a couple days leave.  The WJ 20/02/41 of Chatham along with Grant Adams where reported on a two week’s furlough.

Pte. Roy Bickford then stationed at Ottawa was visiting his family. WJ 14/08/41, 22/08/41 25/O8/41 and 23/10/41.

Reported arriving at Halifax, NS. aboard the S. S. “Nieu Amsterdam”, 9 Sept., 1945. Expected to arrive at Lachine, PQ on the 11th for leave to return to their homes. CDN 10/09/45.

Reported being welcomed back to Chatham from overseas duty by Aldermen George Kerr KC., A. G. Goodman and Bert Joyce. Also by Rehabilitation Officer William Foreman and Alex Copeland for the Civil Reception Committee, along with hundreds of citizens. CDN 12/09/45.
