Medical Board: – SHELL SHOCK:
Service in FRANCE 2 ½ years:- Soldier states he was Shell Shocked – December 15th ,1916. Has been in Hospital continuously until December 15th 1916. Has been in hospital continuously until August 29th 1917 with pain in his head, difficulty in speech, profuse sweating, general weakness, and D.A.H
Physical examination – Soldier speaks with great difficulty. He is shaking constantly, every now and then a small jump with the entire body, and has suffered. He has stated that he has experienced considerable loss of memory, and has suffered emotional changes. He gets angry easily, etc., His usual weight he states was 165 lbs. Present weight of 150 lbs. Heart and Lungs are normal. Superficial and deep reflexes, exaggerated. He also complains of dizziness, flashes before his eyes, buzzing in the ears and insomnia.
Opinion of the Board:-
Seventy percent reducing – Impossible to state. NOT permanently unfit for Military Service. CONVALASCENT HOME: – At Quebec – 27/11/1917 O/S 49th Bn. Age:- 23 years. No. V.D.H. present – Heart regular, Normal rate and splendid condition. E is still considerably nervous, but has improved very much. C-111 Unlikely to be raised in category within six months – Epson, – Sept. 17, 1917.
