Beecroft, Howard Arthur

 

The son of W. E and Florence Beecroft of Chatham, ON., the brother of Joy and Reg. In March of 1942 then L/Cpl. Beecroft married Gwendolyn (Mann) at the bride’s home at Jeanette’s Creek, Kent Co., ON.  Howard would have to rejoin the Kents at Niagara-on-the-Lake following the wedding. CDN 5/03/42. A photo of the happy couple appeared in the CDN 9/03/42.

Served in Canada four years. Went overseas in 1944 and served in England, France, Belgium, Germany and Holland. Promoted from Private to Sergeant and was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, C.V.S.M. and Clasp.

The CDN 19/11/45(P) that Sgt. Beecroft was in Canada after crossing the Atlantic on the Queen Elizabeth and was expect home soon.

Discharged January 9th, 1946.
