A.M.M.  The son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bates of 224 Patteson Ave., Chatham ON.  The brother of Elizabeth.

Trained at Great Lakes and Chicago, Memphis, Tenn, and Jacksonville, Florida. he was stationed at Washington for some months and later went to Treasure Island before landing at Hawaii. He served as an aviation’s mate with the Naval Air Transport service in Hawaii.

Bates returned to Washington D.C. after spending a ten day leave at his parents home. CDN 19/10/43.

After spending the Christmas holiday at his parents Charles was reported returning to Washington D.C. CDN 27/12/44

Charles passed away  12 November, 1984 and is buried in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham, ON.
