Son of Robert Bassett of 148 Wellington, Street East Chatham, ON. Enlisted in 1915 while in England. Transferring to the Imperial Army’s Motor Transport Section. In active service for more than a year. He suffered severely from shell shock and Pleurisy spent eight months convalescing and was given an honourable discharge from the army. Reported returned from O/S duty in October 1917.
The CDP 6/10/1917 reported arrival from the front in Chatham. He walked into his home unexpectedly to the great surprise of the family. Pte. Bassett enlisted two years ago, and when in England transferred to the Imperial Army serving at the front with the Motor Transport section.
Pte. Dalton M. Bassett – Arrived in Chatham from the front. He walked into his home unexpectedlt to greet a surprisedfamily. He enlisted two years ago , to the Imperial army. He had been serving at the front with the Motor services for more than a year.
He suffered severely from ‘shell shock’ and pleurisy and after convalescing for eight months in England hospital. He received his honourable discharge from the Army.
