Born in 1920 the son of Ellen and Lafe Barnes of 87 ½ King St. East. Harold was reportedly living at 76 Wilson Ave., Chatham, ON
The WN 20/12/43 reported that Harold was stationed at Camp Ipperwash, ON.
Went overseas in 1943 and spent three years in Italy, Holland, Germany and Belgium. Promoted to Sergeant Postmaster. Received 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Italy Star, War Medal 1939-1945, C.V.S.M. Medal and Clasp.
It was reported in the CDN 5/02/46 that Harold had been repatriated as a POW and was aboard the S.S./ Aquitamia, that would be docking at Halifax.
Discharged October 3rd 1946.
