Born in Chatham, ON. in 1913. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Ball of Park Avenue, Chatham, ON.  Alex was married to Edith Evelyn (nee Kearrey) and was living at 128 Lorne Ave., Chatham, with their daughter, when he enlisted in October, 1943. Prior to enlisting he was employed as a patrolman at the Chatham Chrysler plant.  

The Merlin Standard reported that Archie returned to RCAF Calgary after a two week furlough spent in Merlin and Fletcher.
