In 1940 Raymond was married (Beatrice) and they had three children William R., Ralph R. and John C. The family at that time was living at 985 Church St., Plymouth, Wayne Co., Michigan.

Raymond embarked at St. John, NB. Canada 18/12/17 and disembarked at Glasgow, England 31/12/17 Arrived in England 31/12/17 aboard the S.S. Grampian. 7/01/18 TOS. From Canada to 4th Res. Bramshott 31/12/17. He was posted to the YMCA Honourary Lieut. He was taken on a posting to the YMCA ‘without pay & allowance, 2/12/18 

Raymond would serve for this position for 13 months WOR and 9 months with the YMCA. He served in England with the 1sst Depot Bn. with the WOR, the 4th Batt., WOR.

He was given a ‘Medical Board’ 28/02/18.   Scotoma – Right Eye: “This man cannot be improved with glasses. The condition likely existed since his early childhood. His left foot shows some flatting of transverse arch with considerable callous formation. Small amount of swelling tissue on the instep and he stated this gives him some pain.” He was also having a sore throat, almost deaf in his right ear. 

He was at the Canadian Red Cross – Officers Hospital at 17 North Audley, London, W1. For defective vision Arthritis Left Knee Joint. Was fit for home service.

26/08/19 SOS: Embarkation for Canada from Liverpool. Disembarked at New York 4/09/19 aboard the S.S. Celtic. 

He was taken on with the YMCA, Witley and YMCA Hindhead, Surrey. SOS 6/09/19 under General Demobilization at Ottawa, ON 29/01/1920.    

Reported to have passed away 8/08/1958 at Plymouth, Michigan, USA.
