The son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Babcock and the brother of Mrs. Norman Taylor.

Before the war, Isaac was a member of the Kent Regt. for four years. When Canada declared was in 1939, Isaac was in the west and joined the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry, but was discharged when it was discovered that he had a defective ear. Determined to serve, he returned to Ontario, and in 1941, he successfully enlisted with the Essex Scottish in Windsor.

He was at Dieppe and took part in the D-Day invasion and was with the Scots in nearly every engagement they participated in.

Isaac was discharged in August of 1945.
