Born on July 29, 1915. He was 28 years old when he enlisted. His parents were George and Mabel Avery, R.R. 2 Dresden, (Lot 6, Con. 5) Camden Township. The husband of Edna Beatrice. Father of Irene Avery Purvis.
Edward enlisted in October of 1943 and served in Camp Iperwash, Chatham, and London, ON. Edward was called to the army in October of 1943. He signed up for ‘active duty’; apparently thinking he might not pass the muster because he had a hernia. His hernia promptly repaired and he was on the active part of the forces. He was sent overseas on two occasions – the first was around the time of his mother’s death, and the second time, there was an impending amount of snow. He drove a truck during his service because he had been trained as a driver/mechanic.
Pte. Avery was discharged in April, 1945
Edward passed away 24/09/92.
