Private Daniel I. Ashton trained a short time in the Home Guards.
Private Daniel I. Ashton enlisted with the 91st. Battalion, transferring later to the 186th. Kent Battalion, in which he was L/Cpl. He trained with this unit until their departure for overseas when he was left in Hospital with Tonsillitis. He again transferred to the 63rd. Battery, leaving Canada April 24th, 1917, and crossing to France January 31st, 1918, attached as Gunner to the R.C.H.A.
