The son of Edmond Henry and Clara Ursula (nee Hucker) Arens, they had immigrated to Canada from Belgium. The brother of Yvonne (Dhean). The Husband of Elsie Mae (nee Bowden of Cedar Springs) father of Donna and Michael and Dennis [deceased in 1981 at 33 years).
Served with navy for two and a half years, in Halifax and Newfoundland. Was with crew on a mine-sweeper.
Discharged September 23rd, 1945.
After the war Maurice returned to Chatham. He was employed as a foreman at the Ontario Steel plant on St. George St. and more recently at the Rockwell International / Meritor plant in Chatham. A member of Royal Canadian Legion Br. 28 served as President and one of the founding members of the Memorial Chapel at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Chatham.
Maurice passed away 11 June. 1984 and is buried at Maple Leaf Cemetery – Chatham
