Born in Chatham, ON., the son of Alfred and Mary (nee Cutting) Andrews. The husband of Annie (nee McAlorum) and the father of Fred and Dan. They were living at 65 ½ Centre Street, in Chatham.
Appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment, (MG), N.P.A.N. (date unknown). Service number A470384. ‘Alb.’ would transfer from the Kent Regt. to the Highland Light Infantry and severed overseas with that unit.
Served with the 2nd Kents.
Served in Canada six months. Went overseas and served in England and on the Continent. was promoted from Private to Corporal.
The WJ 11/01/43(P) reported that his wife had received a cablegram that he had arrived overseas. The CDN 13/07/44(P) reported that Pte. Andrews was serving in France. The CDN 26/12/45 reported that he returned to Canada aboard the S. S. Queen Elizabeth.
Discharged February 8th, 1946.
After the war he drove a truck for the Brewer’s Retail for over thirty years.
Albert passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Friday, 26 Feb. 2016 at the age of 95 years, with internment at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham, ON.
