Only  son of  Mr. and  Mrs. J. L.  Anderson of 107 Emma St., Chatham, ON. Previously, his address had been 32 ½ Murray St., Chatham. He was born in Moncton, NB., and attended Central School and the Chatham Collegiate Institute.

He enlisted in the 1st Kent Regt. and mobilized in 1940. He completed his training in London, Niagara Falls, Halifax, and New Westminister BC. Pte. Anderson transferred to the Essex Scottish Regt. overseas in January of 1943 and went to France 12 July, 1944. He celebrated his 22nd birthday landing in Normandy. In letters home, Pt. Anderson told of fierce engagements in which he had participated since his arrival in Normandy. CDN 2/08/44

The CDN 8/09/44(P) reported he was reported seriously wounded.

Jack was reported to be arriving in Chatham after crossing on the S. S. “Louis Pasteur” and being process on leave in London, ON. CDN 13/08/45,
