Amos left Halifax for overseas service Mar. 9, 1916.
After training at St. Martin’s Plains, Kent, England, he proceeded to France the early part of May and during the battle of Ypres (June 1-3) was a sniper being wounded in this battle. He was sent to the Base Hospital and six weeks later transferred to the 4th C.M.R. going back to trenches in July.
Amos fought in every battle until Oct. 5, at the Somme, when he was again wounded with a bullet in the thigh, gas gangrene setting in.
He died Oct. 11, 1916 in No. 11 Stationary Hospital, Rouen, France later buried by Chaplain E. Allen Natheson at Rouen with all military honours.
