Trained at Ipperwash, Woodstock and Chatham. Went overseas in 1944 and served in Holland France Germany and Belgium. Was wounded twice.
Born in Ancaster, ON. His mother Ivy was living in Chatham. He had two brothers also in service, Pte. Lloyd G. Almas A4432, who served on the Hospital ship “Letitia”, the other brother Gordon was honorably discharged in September, 1943.
It was reported in the CDN 8/11/44 that Pte. Almas was wounded in action by a shell fragment in his right hip. He had been flown from Holland to a Canadian Stationary Hospital in England for treatment.
The CDN 18/06/45 reported that Pte. Almas was scheduled to arrive in Chatham the next day on a special hospital train. He resided at 75 King St. East.
