In December of 1942, Captain William L. A. Allison was appointed to ‘Staff Captain’ at the Directorate of Personal Services Branch at the National Defense Headquarters in Ottawa. He was formerly with the Wrigley Motors in Chatham. At this time, he was living at 191 Joseph Street in Chatham.
William had been in the militia for eleven years. He had to undergo an operation for an old shoulder injury in order to go on active service.
Captain Allison had been on duty in London, ON. prior to his transfer. CDN 19/12/42 The CDN 21/04/43 reported that Captain Allison had returned to Ottawa after a few days at his home in Chatham.
Major Allison was reported arriving from Ottawa to be with his wife and baby daughter, Nancy, at their home on Joseph St., Chatham for the Christmas weekend. CDN 19/12/44 Major Allison was reported to have arrived overseas attached to the Adjutant General’s Staff. At the time his wife was living on Joseph St., Chatham.
In April 1947 received the 20 Year Service Medal.
Served with National Defense Headquarters in London, Ontario, Ottawa, and London England.
Discharged May 20th 1946.
