Born in Chatham, ON. 17 October, 1923 the son of Margaret (MacKinnon) and William Allin, brother of Leonard, William, Jack, Kay. Husband of Norma Beadford (Rook) CDN 28/07/50; father of Karen (Chinnick), David, Brian and Gary.

Convoy duty seven months on destroyer H.M.C.S. Skeens. One year on the frigate H.M.C.S. Joliette.

Discharged November 7th, 1945

After his service in the Navy Doug was very active in the community of Chatham. He was one of the original organizers of Chatham Minor Baseball, a member of the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame, coached tennis and girls basketball. He served on the Chatham City Council from 1962 – 1971 and Mayor of Chatham 1971 – 1976. Doug passed away on Sunday, 9 October, 2011 at the C-K Health Alliance at the age of 87 years.
