Sergeant John E Allan enlisted in 201st Battalion on March 3rd, 1916 and was transferred to the 170th Battalion in September of the same year and went to England in October with that unit. While in England he was transferred to the 169th Battalion about 1st of December 1916 and then transferred to the 116th Battalion on the 31st of December, 1916. Went to France with the 116th Battalion and served with them until September 29th, 1918.

Discharged as medically unfit at Kingston March 20th, 1919.
