The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Abbott of Tilbury.
Took basic training in Galt. Served two years in Halifax then transferred to Toronto. Promoted to the rank of Leading Wren and received the C.V.S.M.
Evelyn enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and was stationed at HMCS Stadacona, NS. Beside her regular duties, Evelyn was very active in Sports. After the war she married Raymond Bonneau 4 March, 1947 and they lived in Tilbury, ON. They had two daughters, Brenda (Burton) and Donna Jackson.
The CDN 29/03/44 reported that Evelyn had been spending a furlough with her parents then living on Grand Avenue east she would be returning to the east coast on the 4th of March. Leading Wren Evelyn was reported visiting her parents in December 1944, along with her friend Leading Wren Gladys Kemble. They returned to Halwood House, Toronto after the Christmas week-end. Evelyn, with the help of other wives in Tilbury started a Ladies Auxillary at the Branch 206 Legion where her photograph is proudly displayed with the other military pictures in the Legion Hall.
Date of Discharge: June 25th 1945.
Evelyn passed away 15 October, 1995.
