Claude enlisted in October of 1942 in Windsor, ON. In 1943 the Ridgetown Independent reported that Claude ha been awarded his “spark” badge on the 21st of July at No. 2 RCAF – Wireless School, in Calagary, Alberta one of 52 airmen in his class. He went overseas as a Wireless Airgunner), in May 1944.

Claude was reported returning from overseas aboard troop ship “Alcantara”, expected to arrive at Quebec City the 5th of August, 1945.
