He saw action during the Battle for Caen, the Falaise Gap and Boulogne wher on 17/09/1944 while Lorne was giving first aid to a German soldier who had been wounded in the head a German shot Lorne in the left arm which had to be amputated just below the elbow. He was reported repatriated to Wheatley apparently recovered from his injuries 3 January, 1945. CDN. 3/01/45.
After the war Lorne had three more children, drove a semi-truck and did “just about everything”. He died of a heart attack in 1979. B. Siddle.
