Returned from overseas CDN 3/08/45. The day after Hiram returned to Chatham he was reunited with a brother and mother he had not seen for 33 years.
His brother became a resident of Windsor and started a search for his brother by contacting various police departments in the area. Chatham police contacted Hiram’s wife and she confirmed the identity. The day after his arrival in Chatham Hiram went to Windsor and after 33 years met his brother and mother, now Mrs. Burtkey of Detroit, Michigan.
When he returned from overseas after five years of service he was living on Pine St. in Chatham. Hiram went into a partnership with a fellow veteran and operated a gasoline and service business on Queen St., Chatham.
