Born in Ottawa. He came to Dresden, ON. eight years prior to enlistment.  He was 28 years old and married  with three children when he enlisted. He was employed by Harold Wills CDN 16/09/42.

Lance Corporal Cassidy was taken prisoner of war by Germans after his units participation in the Dieppe Raid. After the Dieppe Raid he was reported missing in action. He was later advised as a prisoner of war.

Discharged August 10th, 1945.
