Gunner E.W. Warentette enlisted at Kamloops with 86th Battery of Vancouver June 28th 1917 and after three months training at Petawawa Camp returned to Vancouver until Dec 10th when they left for St Johns, N.B. en route for England where they arrived Dec 31st and were transferred to Witley to take courses in Musketry and Gunnery, He crossed to France April 10th 1918 and was attached to 4th Can D.A.C. On May 4th he transferred to 21st Howitzer Battery C.F.A. 4th Brigade. 4th Div, with which unit he served until signing of the Armistice participating in the fighting done by Canadians in France and Belgium including battles of Amiens, Arras, Cambrai, Valenciennes and Mons. Started on march to Germany 1st week in Dec but on reaching Namur developed blood poisoning in Knee which necessitated being confined to hospitals in Charleroi, Boulogne, Whipps Cross and Convalescent Camp at Epsom until Jan 1919 when he was sent to Witley and Rhyl finally sailing from Liverpool March 19th.

Discharged at Toronto March 29th 1919 due to demobilization.
