Date/place of enlistment: February 19, 1916 in Walpole Island with the 149th.

He was hospitalized at the London Military Hospital for the mumps (Canada).  He was kept there for just short of a month.  He was released on May 15, 1917. July 30, 1917, he was examined and considered to be medically fit for service.

He arrived in England on the S.S. Gramplan on December 31, 1917, and on the same day, he was taken on strength from Canada to the 4th Reserve Battalion at Bramshott.

On February 19, 1918, he was a patient at the 12th Canadian General Hospital while serving in the 4th Reserve Battalion.  He was in Ward B for a diagnosis of pleurisy, which is a form of intense inflammation of the lungs and chest cavity. 

He returned to this hospital again on the 21st of February.

On February 23, 1918, he was observed to still be “seriously ill” – his worsening pneumonia was preventing him to participate in active service at this time, while he was in Bramshott.
He returned to this 12th C.G. Hospital in Bramshott and died of his illness on March 6, 1918.    Reported to have died of pneumonia. He was survived by a wife and three children on Walpole Island.

Earnings: Allowed a special $80.00 pension bonus (likely from the Canadian Patriotic fund) – Possible dependent children named Carl and Earl.  Morgan earned $20.00/month.

Discharge

Died on March 6, 1918 Struck off strength from the 4th Battalion.
