The son of Mrs. R. J. Taylor of 88 Elizabeth St., Chatham. The Grandson of Mrs. Adam Taylor of Chatham A former star player of the Knights of St. Andrews hockey team. William received his education at Queen Mary, Public School and Chatham Collegiate Institute and Chatham Vocational School.

Appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment (MG), N.P.A.N. (date unknown). William would transfer from the Army to the Air Force in 1941. William would transfer from the army to the RCAF. Bill was on a two week furlough after receiving hi ‘Wings’ at Brantford. CDN 1/10/42 It was reported in the CDN 15/10/42 That he took part in the “Wings Parade” the graduation from the Brantford Bomber School on the 24th of September, 1942. William was posted overseas 6 Nov. 1943

“On the very day reported missing he received his commission as Pilot Officer according to a letter written by his Squadron Leader to his mother.

KIA – Date of Death: 04/07/1943, Flying in Wellington bomber LN 285 on night Air Ops., over Cologne, Germany P/O Taylor and 5 other crew members were lost. “Billy” had five ‘operationals’ to his credit over difficult targets.
