Gunner – 4th Brigade CFA – Ammunition Column.  TOS 10/1/15 January to August prior to going overseas 

He was reported 14/12/15 had contracted Influenza – rest status 15/12/15, Transferred to No. 8 Cas. C. C. 21/12/15, returned to No. 8 Cas. C.C. 25/12/15 – discharged from care. 

Sailed from Canada aboard the S.S. Corinthian departed Canada – 17/05/15. Arrived in England 27/05/15.

Embarked – FRANCE 15/09/15.  

Reported that he had contracted Influenza again 4/01/16 to 12/01/16 

Ross was wounded in the Right Thigh 7/11/17 received a GSW with a large piece of shrapnel in the abdominal wall about 3” 

The following came from the CVWM:

“Collegiate Teacher KIA.” Ross Taylor a former Chatham man was KIA on 8 January. Formerly senior mathematical master of the Chatham Collegiate. He received his education in Chatham and matriculated in the U of T with honors some years ago. Among other distinctions Ross Taylor took the Prince of Wales scholarship heading the entire Province of Ontario.

He resided in St. Catherines for about a year, before he enlisted as a private in the ammunition column of the fourth brigade CEF.

Ross was age 20 yrs. the son of Wilson and Nancy Livingston Taylor, 123 Howard Ave..Toronto, ON.

Ross Malcolm Taylor Dec. 29, 1895 to Jan. 8, 1916. Son of Wilson Taylor BA. Chatham, ON. and Chatham, Victoria College 1912 – 14 C.O.T.C.

In January 1915, he enlisted in the 4th Brigade Ammunition Column CFA and went overseas in May. Reaching France in Sept. with the 2nd Division he served through the following months on the front south of Ypres. On 1 Jan., 1916 he was transferred to the 13th Battery, and a week later he was killed by a shell when on duty for the first time in the line observation post.

Buried at Ridgewood. He was one of the first members of his Collage to enlist for service and was the first to fall.  U of T / roll of Service.
