Private Leo B. Sterling transferred to the 111th. Battalion, Pioneer Section, about July 1916, going overseas in September 1916. He was stationed at West Sandling, Shorncliffe and other camps until the spring of 1917 when he transferred to the C.A.S.C., Mechanical Transport Section, at Iver heath, Uxbridge, Middlesex. he was admitted to Hospital at Taplow Bucks and underwent an operation in November 1917, which left hum medically unfit for active service in France. He returned to Iver Heath with the C.A.S.C.
