Private Samson J. Snake was a volunteer with the 26th. Middlesex Light Infantry for four years.

Private Samson J. Snake left Camp Borden August 18th, 1916, and embarked August 24th, 1916, on “S.S. Olympic” for overseas. He was admitted to hospital for three weeks, trained at Witley Camp, and proceeded to France November 26th, 1916, to the 4th. Canadian Battalion. he went into the trenches January 17th, 1917, and received wounds in the right foot April 24th,  1917, necessitating his removal to hospital. he returned to the firing lines October 16th, 1917, and was again wounded October 1st, 1918, in the neck. After hospital treatment he was returned to Canada.

Private Samson J. Snake received his discharge February 8th, 1919, due to demobilisation.
