Additional info:  Large scar on forehead spreading over the nose.  He also complained of having “flat feet” – which could have been from ill-fitting shoes, or going barefoot.  His foot pain eventually turned into leg pain, which bothered him well into adulthood. 

Events during service: Reported to have had very good conduct during his time in the war.
