Living at R.R. #3 Chatham, ON. Algonquin Regt. and Loyal Edmonton Regt. The brother of W. J. Sloan of Kent Centre.  Mrs. Leslie Man and Walter of Ridgetown, Mrs. Gordon McFadden of Fletcher, Pte J. T . Sloan serving on the West Coast, George, Ivan and Will of Harwich Twsp.

Blake enlisted in Windsor, ON., 8 April of 1943 at the age of 28 years. Trained at BTC No.12, Chatham, ON. and at Ipperwash.  He was sent overseas in in September 1943 to France 28 July, 1944 with the Algonquin Regiment. His last letter at that time had him in Belgium. 

Pte. Sloan was serving in Holland (Shelt), When he was wounded in October of 1944. The CDN 11/10/44 reported the nature of his injury was not determined. The CDN 25/10/44 reported that a message received said he was in a hospital somewhere in Belgium.   After spending some time in France he was sent to hospital in England, returning to his front line unit before Christmas 1944.  Taken as a POW by the Germans in the Shelt. RIN 24/10/12. It was reported that Pte. Sloan was liberated after being MIA for three months in the CDN 25/05/45. He was hospitalized in England before being returned to Canada.

Blake was reported as ‘missing in action’ CDN 16/03/45

It was later reported that he had been taken as a POW by the Germans in the Shelt. RIN 24/10/12. It was reported that Pte. Sloan was liberated after being MIA for three months in the CDN 25/05/45. He was hospitalized in England before being returned to Canada.

Blake passed away 23 September, 1987.
