Unit # RCAF

Son of  William James and Gertrude (Beaubien) Seney, brother  of Benjamin, Harry John, Albert, Roy, Grace (Pepper) and Ruth (Walker).  First enlisted in the Kent Regt. in August of 1940, transferred to the RCAF in July of 1941. He trained in Toronto and Montreal before going overseas in December of 1942 and continued his training in England.

He was assigned to RAF Coastal Command making thirty-two trips over the coastal waters of the Gulf of Aden serving as a wireless air gunner in a Wellington bomber. While in active service Roy was promoted from Sergeant to Warrant Officer and upon his return to Canada was given his commission as a Pilot Officer.

P/O Roy Seney married Mavis Eleanor Botham the 19th of May 1945 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Botham of St. Laurent at the Church of the Messiah in Montreal, PQ. They would have four children: Barbara (Tucker), Pamela (Meciejowski), Doug and Deborah  (Meciejowski).

 

Roy Edward passed away 17/07/09, buried at Stewart Cemetery.
