Born in Valetta / Tilbury, the son of  Robert  and Eva (Grant) Schives. Married Bertha (Lewis) they had a son Robert. Bertha passed away in 2006. Grant passed away Saturday, 18 February, 2012 at the Meadow Park Nursing Home, Chatham, ON. Interment in Stewart Cemetery, Tilbury East Township.

Trained at Chatham and Ipperwash. Stationed in Canada and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
