The son of Thomas A. and Sarah Rossell formerly of Chatham residing in Windsor in March of 1945. The brother of Cpl. Arthur Rossell A21896.

Murray was not yet eighteen years of age when he enlisted in 1943. He sailed for overseas in September 1944 and was in battle six weeks after leving Canada.

Private Rossell  went overseas, August 1944 and served in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.  His mother Sarah received information that her son had been wounded in action in Holland but the extent of the injuries “is not yet known” so the telegram concluded. His brother had recently returned home from overseas. CDN14/03/45

He was wounded in back and right arm in Germany in March 1944, and invalided back to Canada in July 1945.
