Regimental number: 214318, Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 8130 – 2. Date of Birth: 12/11/1890 or 1893 at Fletcher, ON. Son of Albert Reaume of Jeanettes’s Creek, Raleigh Twsp., Kent Co., ON., brother of Alfred (213805), sisters Elizabeth and Bella. A single farmer living at the family farm.

Attestation: 17/04/1916 at Tilbury, ON. to 99th Bn. at the age of 22 year. He was 5’ 8”, fair complexion, brown Hair an and eyes he had scars over both  eyes. John was married to Florence Polly and was living at 190 Victoria Ave., Windsor, ON. He was employed as a brick and tile maker.    LAC search. TT 29/07/48 Obit for Alfred.

Pte. John H. Reaume embarked for overseas May 28, 1916, on the “Olympic” and was attached to 35th Reserve Battalion in England. He crossed to France August 28th, 1916, transferring to the 20th Canadian Battalion. He went to the Loos front to Bully Grenade, staying there until January 1917, when he moved to the Arras front, and through the Battle of Vimy April 9th, 1917. He was wounded at Fresnoy, Lens, May 9th, and after six weeks Hospital treatment returned to the trenches June 25th. He was sent to Ypres for Passchendaele Battle, went back to Lens the latter part of December and served on until the end of the war, he was wounded altogether five times. He returned to England with the 20th Batt May 1919 and left for Canada Aug 1919.

He and his brother Alftred departed Halifax with 99th Batt.31/05/16 aboard the S. S. Olympic arriving at Liverpool 8/06/16. After his basic training he along with his brother were transferred overseas to France, taken on Strength with the 20th Batt., CEF

John suffered a Gun Shot Wound to his back 10/05/17 and was admitted to #14 General Hospita – Wimeraux l for treatment of his wound. 14/05/17 he was transferred to #1 Convalescent Depot – Boulonge. He wound receive the Military Medal 7/08/19 for service in France and Belgium.

John embarked at Liverpool 16/04/19 and arrived at Halifax 23/04/19

Discharged at London Aug 25th 1919 due to demobilization.
