Regimental number: 189739. Reference: RG150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 8042 – 41, Item: 594283, PDF:- 8042-S041 Date of Birth 7/04/1899 at Dublin, Ireland. A single labourer living at his father James’ home at 239 William St., Chatham, ON. He had not received a vaccination He had previously had attested to the 186th Battalion but according to the CDP 11/10/1916.
Apparent age: 18 yrs. 4 mos. Height: 5’ 5” ½, Girth: 34“, Weight 151 #. Complexion: Fair, Eyes: Blue, Hair: Brown. He also had a tattoo mark on his left forearm. Medical: 2/08/17 at Chatham “Fit”.
3 Jan, 1916 to 1 Feb. 28/02/1916 AWL 1/02/16, he was absent for four days . Transferred to the 186th 28/02/16. Depot Batt. 1917 Sept. – to Dec. October he was AWL for 72 HOURS Dec. 10/12/17. Embarked from St. Johns 18/12/17 and disembarked: Glasgow 31/12/17.
AWL 42 Hrs. with the 18TH Cdn. Inf. Theatre: FRANCE. 11/05/18 having proceeded o/s to the 18th Bn. sos from 4th Bn.. Wounded 3/09/18 – Admitted to # 22 General Hospital – Camrilers – for a GSW to his left arm. 2nd West Gen. Manchester 1/09/18 – PP clean Bexhill 17/10/18.
To the PPCLI – he received a GSW to the Lt. admitted 16/10/18. To Discharge21/10/18.
He had deserted from that unit. Attestation: 1/08/1917 to the 25th overseas Battalion at the age of 18 years, 4 months. LAC.
He was shipped back to Canada aboard the S.S. Megantic 5/03/19 – 8/03/19 granted a furlough 27/03/19. Disc, from HMS 27/03/19 – DEMOBILIZATION at London, ON. 27/03/1919
