Born in 1918. The brother of John, Garland, Gladys, Mary and Susan. The father of Dianna (Willie), who he had not seen due to his service, Cherrie (Hall) and David. He had adopted sons :Wolfe and Lance. The family was living at 20 Second Street in Chatham. Prior to his enlistment he was employed he was employed by his father Frank Pidgeon ditching contractor in Chatham.

Joseph enlisted in July of 1940 with the Royal Canadian Engineers at London, ON. He would shortly after transfer to the Royal Canadian Signal Corps. He went overseas in November 1941 and to France a week after D-Day.

Served overseas. Injured by friendly fire in the back at the base of the spine, during practice.  Joe was wound in action 19/08/44 and suffered an accidental injury 22/09/44.   

Joe was wounded in action CDN 19/08/44 The actual date of his wounding was 11/08/44 and suffered an accidental back injury CDN 22/09/44(P).  

Date of Discharge: October 10, 1945

Joseph passed away 16 February, 1992 at the age of 74 years old. Interment – Cremation
