Born 8/08/25. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pegg of Merlin, Kent County, ON.. The brother of Jewell (Brown).   

“One winter day last November [1942], two of the *M.C.S. boys were absent from their regular classes, they had gone off this day to offer their services to King and Country, they had gone to enlist in the R.C.A.F. at Windsor.

Three days later they returned . Lawrence was under-age and was to return later. As soon as Lawrence was “of age” he was accepted as a potential gunner. He was sent to No.2 Manning Depot, Brandon, Manitoba.

Lawrence was sent from the Manning Depot in Brandon to No. 5 Air Observers School in Winnipeg, where he was taking a six month General Duties Course because of immediate posting facilities.

The Merlin Standard (1944 date unknown) reported that Sgt. Jones along with Sgt. L. Pegg and Sgt. L. Campbell were all on a 31 day leave prior to going overseas.

The CDN 21/02/45 Reported that Lawrence had completed his tour of 34 operational trips as an Air-Gunner. He claims he had a quite time and seldom used his guns except for shooting up flack towers.

Lawrence and his wife Irene had six children, Janice (Davidson), Peter, Bill, Anna (Rex) Ginnie (Stuler) and Candace (O’Neil).   Between 1964 – 69 he lived in Ilderton, ON., working as a draftsman. From 1969 – 90 he worked in Windsor of the City of Windsor doing Engineering drafting and in 1990 moved to London where he passed away 13/02/1996 at the age of 71 years.
