CE., 3rd Div.  Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 7257 –  21 Item 557885; PDF: B7257-SO21.  Date of Birth 07/03/1893 at Chatham, ON.   Son of John and Sophia Neilson of  25 Bedford Street, Chatham, ON. Brother of Edith, Mabel (Wells), Alice and Louise (Spear). It was reported that Albert grew up in Mull, Kent Co., ON. (P. Neilson – grandson). A single show salesman living in Windsor, ON. MSA 721779 AC. Attestation: 4/03/1918 to 1st WOR at the age of 26 years. Reported as returned from O/S CDP 25/03/19.

Pte, Neilson arrived in England 24/05/18. Albert was TOS with the CE 6/09/18. This was unusual as most consripts were destined to go to the infantry. He was SOS 15/03/1919. Reported as returned from O/S CDP 25/03/19. He was reported as discharged 29/03/1919.

According to Patrick M. Dennis in his book “Reluctant Warriors” Albert kept, “One of the few first-hand accounts of his “life changing experiences”.   

Albert married Jeannette (nee Barclay) of Wallaceburg, he had recently purchased the boot and shoe business of Mr. W. J. Trott. CDP 7/07/1922. He passed away 16 February, 1986 at the age of 92 years. The father of Jack Clay  CDN-Obit 18/02/86. Internment in Evergreen Cemetery.
