The son of Edgerton and Mazie Morse. Husband of Evelyn ‘Effie’ for 62 years, the father of John and Karen (Abbott).

Eric enlisted in the RCAf in 1942, trained in Canada and went oversea joining 409 Squadron likely at RAF Digby or Hundson where they moved in 1944 when converting to the Mk XII Mosquito night-fighter joining No. 85 Group of the 2nd TAF (Tactical Air Force) doing intruder and offensive patrols over the Normandy beachhead.

Eric was a specialized aircraft mechanic, servicing the Mk XII Mosquitos. As the war went on the 409 Sqd. was relocated to the Carpiquet area in France and then to Lillie area until April of 1945 when they moved again to the Rhine area of Germany. By wars end the 409 Squadron had been credited with 61 ½ German aircraft destroyed.

Eric returned to Wallaceburg to begin a career as a tool and die engineer, raising his family, enjoying their cottage at Michell’s Bay where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and carving duck decoys, winning several awards. He also built boats, both speedboats and cruisers.

Eric passed away at the Milton District Hospital on 7 January, 2014 at the age of 93 years.  A graveside service was held in Wallaceburg.
