Born 1921 at Tilbury, ON., the son of Ernest and Mable (nee Benedict), of 71 Main St. Wallaceburg / No.40 Highway;  brother of Helen (Toms). Married to Phoebe (nee Blair). The father of Carol (Breault) and Charles.  Before his enlistment with the Kent Regt., in 1940 he was employed at the CPR Hotel in Chatham.

The Wallaceburg News 15/04/43 reported that Gerald’s parents had received a cable who was serving in the Kent Regt., had arrived safely in England.

Gerald served overseas with the Canadian Army.  Jerry was “somewhere in Italy” when he had his 34th birthday. WN 17/08/44(P)

After the war Gerald was the co-founder of A-1 Furniture in Chatham and also worked with McDonnell & McDonnell Auctioneers.

Gerald passed away 28 January, 1985, at the age of 64 years old.  Internment in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Chatham, ON.
