Pte. John McCarty was transferred from Chatham to Wolseley Barracks Hospital, London, thence to Freeport Sanatorium, Kitchener for six months treatment, returning to his home in October pending discharge.

Pte. John McCarty received his honorable discharge November 30th, 1917, being unfit for military service.
